ABOUT CROW

It all started with the desire to put thoughtful, engaging writing into the hands of readers everywhere.

Crow follows in the tradition of the independent publishers that were created after WWI in 1920s and 30s Paris.

Those independent publishers were drawn to the new writers, poets and playwrights who were at first experimenting, and then creating a new way of writing. Like the writers themselves, the publishers were risk takers who believed, and then became part of a literary revolution. The list of names and works from that time have carried on and become a part of the English literary canon. But then, at their beginnings, they were unknown and often unwelcome by the literary establishments of the day.

After years of being published by Scribner, Crown, Simon and Schuster, The British Library, Gallimard (France), Mondadori (Italy) and managing the Ernest Hemingway literary estate for over twenty years, Michael Katakis founded Crow in 2025.
